We were recently given the opportunity to test out and review Bio Seaweed Gel’s new Uptown Lights Summer 2015 collection and we are very excited to share our experience because Bio Seaweed Gel is free of the ‘5 big nasties’: formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, BHA and solvents. Several traditional nail or gel polish brands have some or all of those chemicals so this brand is a healthier gel alternative for those looking for one.

We prefer 5-free polishes because you avoid exposing your body to these harmful chemicals, while also preventing nail dehydration, staining and weakening. We also loved this collection because the gels are all UNITY  Colours, which means it’s a base, colour and top coat all in one and you don’t need to have or use a UV/LED lamp to set them. Instead, you can cure the gel with sunlight!

We had used their 3STEP Colour products before, (which requires a UV/LED lamp), and loved them, but this was our first time using the  Unity range.

The Uptown Lights collection is also so cute because all of the colours are inspired by Canadian cities, and there’s a good mixture of neutral and bright colours to choose from. We picked Winnipeg, Fredericton, Halifax and Quebec City to try out. Check the colours out below, and continue reading for our review and ‘how-to’ guide for using Bio Seaweed Gel’s Unity All-In-One gels. PETIT VOUR APRIL 2015 BOX REVIEW

Better late than never, right???Petit Vour April 2015 Box SubscriptionI’m pretty backlogged in writing these reviews, but I’m going to try to catch up before the summer ends, so wish me luck.  Oh, and please don’t think the lack of posting reviews is because I don’t like the products. I actually get really excited to receive the box each month. I wouldn’t repurchase every product I’ve tried, but I have found some real gems, which is great.

Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreen

Source Image: weheartit

Now that spring is here and the weather is (…slowly) warming up in Canada, I thought I’d do a post on choosing a more natural sunscreen. I’m a huge sun-lover. If someone told me I was some type of fabulous water lizard in another life, I would believe them. There are few things I love more than a beach and sunny weather. That being said, I also don’t want to end up looking like a human lizard as I age – so sun protection is important.

Test Dummies: Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Coconut Magic Lotion

Dr. Bronners Lotion

WHY I BOUGHT IT
I was in the habit of using coconut oil to moisturize after I showered, but sometimes that can get a bit oily/takes a while to absorb. I thought I’d try something new and really like Dr. Bronner’s products, so gave this lotion a shot.

PRICE
$13.99 for 237 ml

MY THOUGHTS
I really like this lotion, the consistency is more of a mix between an oil and a cream. It’s kind of runny, but absorbs quickly and I don’t need that much to moisturize my whole bod (4-5 pumps). I also really like how smooth it makes my skin feel after using it and doesn’t have a heavy scent. (more…)
