We were recently given the opportunity to test out and review Bio Seaweed Gel’s new Uptown Lights Summer 2015 collection and we are very excited to share our experience because Bio Seaweed Gel is free of the ‘5 big nasties’: formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, BHA and solvents. Several traditional nail or gel polish brands have some or all of those chemicals so this brand is a healthier gel alternative for those looking for one.

We prefer 5-free polishes because you avoid exposing your body to these harmful chemicals, while also preventing nail dehydration, staining and weakening. We also loved this collection because the gels are all UNITY  Colours, which means it’s a base, colour and top coat all in one and you don’t need to have or use a UV/LED lamp to set them. Instead, you can cure the gel with sunlight!

We had used their 3STEP Colour products before, (which requires a UV/LED lamp), and loved them, but this was our first time using the  Unity range.

The Uptown Lights collection is also so cute because all of the colours are inspired by Canadian cities, and there’s a good mixture of neutral and bright colours to choose from. We picked Winnipeg, Fredericton, Halifax and Quebec City to try out. Check the colours out below, and continue reading for our review and ‘how-to’ guide for using Bio Seaweed Gel’s Unity All-In-One gels. Loaded Corn on the Cob

Corn is in season right now in Ontario, so I’ve been receiving a lot of it in my weekly food share. I’ve always enjoyed the taste of corn on its own, but I was intrigued while out at a restaurant when I saw a plate of corn on the cob drift by me that was smothered in sauce! I wasn’t able to order that corn because unfortunately the saucy goodness contained dairy, but it did inspire me to go home and try to make my own dairy-free version. I think that this is the only way I’ll be eating my corn now…
