No More Dirty Looks

I get asked what all natural beauty/skin care products I use quite a bit by friends and family, so I thought I would quickly post about one of the websites that has helped me as I transition to all natural skincare and make up, please say hello to…

NO MORE DIRTY LOOKS

No More Dirty Looks (NMDL) is a website that launched in 2010, it’s also a book and a community for people who are passionate about natural beauty, wellness and healthy living. Founded by co-authors Siobhan O’Connor and Alexandra Spunt, these ladies are queens of green beauty in my eyes. Their book, posts and the website community helped me personally deal with a dermatitis flare a few winters ago (more on that soon…) so I feel like it’s my duty to support and share my love of their site.

Some things you’ll find on NMDL:

Mineral vs. Chemical Sunscreen

Source Image: weheartit

Now that spring is here and the weather is (…slowly) warming up in Canada, I thought I’d do a post on choosing a more natural sunscreen. I’m a huge sun-lover. If someone told me I was some type of fabulous water lizard in another life, I would believe them. There are few things I love more than a beach and sunny weather. That being said, I also don’t want to end up looking like a human lizard as I age – so sun protection is important.

WHY I BOUGHT IT
I had just run out of my old cleanser and needed something to replace it. However, I was in a rush and grabbed this without reading the ingredients as well as I should have, and now I have regrets 😦 (more…)

The Detox Market Toronto

Erin and I had the pleasure of visiting the The Detox Market Toronto a few weeks ago. I’m obsessed with watching beauty/makeup videos on YouTube, and one of my favourite channels is celebrity make-up artist Jamie Greenberg. Recently, she went to the LA Detox Market, and all I could think was…

I Want To Go To There

Jamie doesn’t post exclusively about natural products, but she is so damn hilarious that I love watching her anyways. She does Kaley Cuoco’s make up, and the videos of them two together crack me up. Anyway, after I watched her video I immediately went and Googled the store to check for a website/on-line shopping, and found that they had a Toronto location:

Using Soap to Brush Your Teeth

Soap Toothpaste

When I tell people I switched to using soap to brush my teeth, they cringe – and I did too when I first tried it.  I thought about how adults in movies would wash a kid’s mouth out with soap if they’d done something wrong. Not pleasant, except now I was washing my own mouth/teeth with soap to keep up with my oral hygiene.

The real reason I started brushing my teeth with soap was by total fluke. I had just moved, couldn’t figure out where the toothpaste was and remembered reading an article where Dr. Bronner’s Soap was used instead of traditional toothpaste. I tested out the method with my Kiss My Face bar soap and haven’t looked back.

Test Dummies: Meow Meow Tweet Lavendar Deodorant Cream

Meow Meow Tweet DeodorantWHY I BOUGHT IT:

I wasn’t enjoying the experience of using a different brand’s tea tree deodorant. I like tea tree oil, but found that it made my b.o. smell worse after using it. I went on to borrow my sisters Green Beaver Lavendar deodorant and loved that, but it wasn’t lasting all day. It went on like butter, incredibly soft and smelled great, but again – wasn’t lasting. So I went searching well.ca for something different, and since I’m a sucker for a deal, I bought this cream on sale (you’ll see a trend here with my purchases…)

PRICE:

$15.99 Canadian, but I think I got 20% off my purchase. So, pricier than most deodorants, but a little goes a long way. I’ve had mine since November and haven’t used half yet. It’s actually on sale right now until Feb 8, 2015, you can click here to go to the product. (more…)

Test Dummies: Andalou Naturals Meyer Lemon Creamy Cleanser

WHY I BOUGHT IT:
My skin is a bit on the dry side- even drier when it’s winter and the fact that it was creamy instead of a typical foam, didn’t have any fragrance/parfum/perfume (I’m trying to cut all of that out of all my products) and had Manuka honey as an ingredient appealed to me. It was also on sale…

PRICE:
Regular price it’s $12.95, but I bought my bottle from a local grocery store on sale for $9.99.
